The Catholic University of America

Welcome from the Director of CUAbroad

Ella A. Sweigert
Director of Education Abroad

By deciding to study abroad, you will be embarking on an adventure that will likely change your life and broaden your understanding of the world through the academic and personal experiences during your journey.

CUAbroad, the education abroad office at The Catholic University of America (CUA), is part of the Center for Global Education (CGE), which advances the international character of the university by promoting, supporting, and developing a wide range of international and intercultural educational opportunities for members of the CUA community.

CUAbroad works with the various academic and administrative units campus-wide as well as with other institutions in the U.S. and abroad to provide an array of education abroad opportunities for both CUA and non-CUA students. These programs combine rigorous academic study with a cross-cultural learning experience in a foreign environment. Students can earn credit through study abroad and continue making progress toward their degrees.

Students may select from semester- or year-long, summer, short-term options; language study, internship, service-learning or work opportunities. CUAbroad provides specialized services such as education abroad advising and guidance before, during and following a study abroad experience. Our office also maintains a resource library, provides travel insurance information and issues the International Student ID Card (ISIC).

We look forward to the opportunity to serve you.
