Nikki Stephanou- History Major, CUA Class of 2010
Describes her education abroad experience in Fremantle, Australia, Spring 2008
In the simplest of words studying abroad in Australia has changed my life. It is the most monumental experience that I have ever had, and Fremantle is more then a perfect place to live and study. The shops, restaurants, bars and markets are great and make life heaps of fun. UNDA and its' professors are brilliant and really make going to class fun and exciting, the feeling of learning something new everyday brings you back to primary school. They are also very helpful with explaining various things that, as Americans, we may not have known. The trip to Broome, that all study abroad students have to take with the Australian History and Society course, was one of the many highlights I have while being here. It is a unique experience that even most Australians never get to be apart of. I have met an amazing group of friends both Americans and Australians who have contributed to my experience here, as well. The culture is based on being outside, friendly and loving life and there is a focus on relaxation and family. Unlike the U.S, where we are constantly moving but going no where, people in Australia take time for themselves and for the people around them.

Caitlin Dunn - Politics Major, CUA Class of 2009
Describes her education abroad experience in Leuven, Belgium, Fall 2007
I studied European Politics in Leuven, Belgium and a part of our program was to intern at the European Union. Both of these opportunities helped me to better understand the growing influence of Europe in the world. This program was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity because I was able to interact with numerous cultures on any given day. I learned more than I ever thought possible about what makes the European Union a unique world power through encountering the different cultures, beliefs, and philosophies of the 27 countries that make up the European Union. Furthermore, Belgium's accessible location made traveling to other countries very manageable. In three months I explored seven different countries! If traveling, diverse cultures, and world politics interest you, this program is perfect.

Salvatore Veniero - German and Secondary Education Major, CUA Class of 2009
Describes his education abroad experience in Berlin, Germany, Spring 2008
Studying abroad is one of the most eye opening and fantastic experiences that a person can have. Living in a host family and studying in Berlin has given my a lot of insight into German culture and has vastly improved my language skills. I am not only learning about German culture here, but I have also been exposed to a new viewpoint of my own culture and encountered so much in this truly international city. Located in central Europe staying in the German capital offers many opportunities for travel, the opportunity to get to know things outside of my own culture. Studying Abroad is not just about seeing and learning about new things, however, it is also about seeing a different side of yourself, creating new memories and building international friendships. I will never be able to forget how much I have learned and changed here.
