Description
London, the largest urban area in England, has been an important settlement for almost two millennia, dating back to the Roman invasion of Britain. With it's rich history and cultural, political, and economical influence, it can easily be considered the capital of the western world. Many famous sites, including Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and the British Museum, make it a must-see on any traveler's check-list, and an ideal place to live and learn.
Students in London will get the opportunity to work at with a legislator or sponsor in British Parliament, located in the Westminster area of the city. Furnished flats and residence halls are provided in the city. This highly competitive program is designed for upper undergraduates or graduate students with a strong background in Politics and Political Science.
Accommodation
Students live in program sponsored housing. Typically, these are furnished flats or international student residence halls in the city.
Credits
Students in the program are expected to maintain a log of their activities and are asked to retain any non-confidential studies they prepare. These materials, the sponsor's assessment, and a departmental oral examination based on the intern's reading and experience, provide the basis for grading. Credit for all other courses outside of the internship is awarded based on modules students take and papers written on the appropriate subjects.
Students will be enrolled in 4 courses totalling in 15 credits:
British Politics (3), equivalent to POL 542
British Drama (3), equivalent to ENG 380
Contemporary Issues in the UK (3), equivalent to POL 545
Parliamentary Internship (6), Equivalent to POL 541A
