Spring Semester only: January 11 - April 25, 2010
Introduction
The London Dramatic Academy addresses theatre as a craft and enables students to improve their skills during the intensive fourteen week semester. LDA is not confined one method but offers the widest variety of instruction. Integral to the programme are weekly visits to London theatres such as the National, the Royal Court, the Almeida and the Barbican. It is our aim that students should experience a wide variety of performance. As well as plays, students attend ballet and modern dance performances, opera and a symphony concert. The semester's programme also includes exclusive performances at the Centre given by distinguished actors.
The City
London, the largest urban area in England, has been an important settlement for almost two millennia, dating back to the Roman invasion of Britain. With it's rich history and cultural, political, and economical influence, it can easily be considered the capital of the western world. Many famous sites, including Big Ben, Tower Bridge, and the British Museum, make it a must-see on any traveler's check-list, and an ideal place to live and learn.
Courses and credits
Students enroll full time in the following courses:
- British Theater Acting
- British Theater Now and Then
- Movement and Stage Combat
- Voice Training for Actors
Accommodation and Meals
Recently LDA has returned to student accommodation in Clifton Gardens, Maida Vale, one of the most pleasing and attractive areas of northwest London. Students live in flats in groups of 3-5 with self-catering facilities in the LDA facilities. The journey to the London Centre takes less than 30 minutes.
Maida Vale, developed in the 19th Century, contains a complex network of canals, known as Little Venice, and is strongly associated with the great Victorian poet Robert Browning.
