Introduction
Paris, whose influence upon French culture is enormous, is the ideal city in which to learn and perfect French. This program is primarily geared towards French Majors with advanced language skills seeking an independent experience.While studying at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV), the Institut Catholique, or the Cours de Langue et Civilisation Françaises de la Sorbonne, participants are presented with a rich assortment of options at some of Europe's finest universities. The program includes regular activities and field trips, including a spring excursion to Normandy.
Academics & Curriculum
The courses to which AYA students have access at the Université de Paris-Sorbonne are those offered by the following UFR (Departments): Littérature Française et Comparée, Langue Française, Latin, Grec, Philosophie, Histoire, Géographie, Art et Archéologie, Études Anglaises et Nord-Américaines, Etudes Germaniques, Etudes Ibériques et Latino-Américaines, Etudes Catalanes, Italien et Roumain, Etudes Slaves, Langues Etrangères Appliquées, Etudes Arabes et Orientales, Musique et Musicologie, Sciences Humaines Appliquées, Institut de Recherches sur les Civilisations de l'Occident Moderne. Cours de Langue et Civilisation Françaises de la Sorbonne offers classes primarily in the French Language. By the Institut Catholique, courses are offered in theology, philosophy, teaching, literature, economics, and the social sciences. Please visit the AYA program website for more information.
Students live with French hosts in and near Paris, which will help further improve their French language skills, and fully immerse them in French culture. You may opt to obtain your own housing as well.
Program Costs
CUA tuition and a $5,000 program fee to cover most overseas expenses. Round-trip airfare, some meals, passport, visa, and personal expenses are not included. Contact CUAbroad for an estimated cost breakdown sheet.

Eligibility
Applicants must have completed three semesters of college-level study by the time the program begins, enrolled full-time at the time of application and in good academic standing, and not on disciplinary probation. A minimum cumulative G.P.A. requirement is 2.8. Students must have completed four semesters of college level French.
